The port city of Lisbon enjoys an idyllic location at the mouth of the River Tagus (Tejo). You will find conference hotels close to the old town, but also modern convention centres, exhibition halls and hotels to the east of the city-centre around the former expo site Parque das Nações. Culinary and culture
Be it a simple aperitif or multi-course dinner – Portugal’s cuisine is outstanding. Fish lovers and those with a sweet tooth will feel equally at home here. The Portuguese national dish is Bacalhau – dried and salted cod. On to dessert, and you really must try Pasteis de Nata – small puff pastry tartlets filled with delicious vanilla custard. Stews and meat dishes are also a staple of Portuguese cuisine.
Take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets of the old town after your conference, enjoy a glass of port and listen to the strains of Fado music on the air. Lisbonians hold their Fado singers in the highest esteem. This emotionally infused and melancholic music genre is the soul of Portugal – Fado is a feeling.
