From 11 to 27 January 2019, the Sant Sebastià festival Palma de Mallorca takes place. The citizens of Palma celebrate Sant Sebastià, a special day to honour the patron saint of the city.
Sant Sebastià festival Palma de Mallorca
Folk dancing, concerts and other events are staged in various different squares across the island’s capital city. At 8.00 pm, the giant fire-breathing crocodile „Drac de na Coca“ appears with a parade of drummers on the Plaça de Cort. Together they form a procession to the Plaça Major where the Drac de na Coca lights the fire and the drummers (Batucadas), giant figures (Gegants) and figures with huge heads (Capgrossos) are ready and waiting. Afterwards, barbecues are lit at specially set-up sites across the whole city of Palma.
